Side Tables

Arthur

marble side table

Some pieces are furniture. Arthur is a reference point — the still object in a room that everything else orients around. Carved from a single block of marble, its form is disarmingly simple: a generous slab top on a tapered pedestal base, the stone's veining running continuously from surface to floor.

The Monolithic Form

Cut from One Stone

Arthur is carved from a single block of marble — top, pedestal, and base in one continuous form. No joints, no seams, no interruption. The veining runs from the polished surface straight down to the floor without deviation, mapping the same slab across the entire height of the piece. This is what monolithic means: an object that is also a record.

Proportion as Philosophy

Proportion as Philosophy

A side table is the most considered object in a room. It exists at arm's reach, at eye level when seated — it is read at close range, every day. Arthur's proportions were arrived at slowly: the top generous enough to be useful, the pedestal narrow enough not to intrude, the base stable without appearing heavy. Nothing is ornament.

Stone Selection

Shown here in White Onyx. Arthur is offered in a considered selection of natural stones, available with a polished or honed finish. Because the piece is carved from a single block, the stone is hand-selected for continuous veining — the pattern must work across the full height, not merely the top surface.

Arthur is carved from one block — no joints, no seams, only the natural interruptions of the marble's own geology. The veining runs from the top surface to the base without interruption. This is what monolithic means.

Yes. The Arthur is a wholly monolithic piece — top, pedestal, and base are hewn from a single block of marble with no joints, adhesives, or hidden armature. The veining runs continuously from surface to floor because the piece comes from a single slab. Each Arthur is therefore genuinely unique; the block determines the character.

Yes, within the constraints of single-block carving. We can adjust the top dimensions, height, and pedestal profile. Significant changes to the top-to-base ratio affect both the structural integrity and the visual character of the piece. We are happy to discuss bespoke commissions during the inquiry process.

Polished marble has a high-gloss, mirror-like surface that amplifies the depth of veining and reflects light dramatically. Honed marble is matte — softer in appearance, more tactile, and less susceptible to showing scratches. Both are available for Arthur. Most residential applications choose honed; polished is common in more formal or dramatic interior settings.

Every Arthur is transported in a custom-made crate by our specialist handling partners. Delivery includes white-glove placement and final inspection at your location. Given the monolithic nature of the piece, we do not ship via standard courier — all logistics are managed directly by Tiba Stone.
