Terra

travertine coffee table

Stone as it was found. The Terra table is quarried from Travertino Romano — its warm ivory surface marked by the natural voids and fossil traces the earth left behind. Not filled, not concealed. A surface that carries geological time.

Ancient Stone, Living Surface

Every Terra carries the memory of the sea. Travertino Romano forms over millennia as calcium-rich thermal waters deposit layer upon layer of mineral sediment. The natural voids left by organic matter are not filled, not concealed. They are the point — a surface that breathes, that holds shadow, that changes with every angle of light.

The Architecture of Weight

The Terra's form is deliberately monolithic. Two solid stone legs carry a thick, wide slab — no metal, no composite, no concealed hardware. Stone on stone, joined with precision. It sits low to the ground, unhurried, occupying its space with the quiet confidence of something that has always been there.

Stone & Finish

The Terra is offered in four warm, earth-toned stones, each with a different character of void and texture. Every piece is available honed — our preferred finish for this form, which emphasises the stone's natural depth — or brushed for a more aged, elemental quality.

They can, but we recommend against it for the Terra. The voids are part of what makes the stone geological rather than decorative — they hold shadow and depth in a way a filled surface cannot. For clients who prefer a smoother surface, we suggest considering Pietra di Vicenza, which has a finer, more uniform texture while retaining the same warm, earthy character.

A honed surface is smooth and matte — it reveals the stone's colour and structure with clarity without any reflectivity. Brushed is treated with wire wheels that open the grain further, creating a slightly rougher, more rustic texture. For the Terra, honed is the quieter of the two; brushed gives the stone a more ancient, excavated quality. Both are beautiful and depend entirely on the room they are entering.

Travertino Romano is quarried in the hills near Tivoli, east of Rome — the same source used for the Colosseum. We select slabs in person, looking for a particular warmth and consistency of void pattern. For the Terra, we look for slabs with a flowing, directional void pattern — not randomly distributed, but with a sense of geological movement. We share the shortlisted slabs with clients so the final choice is always made together.

Standard pieces are produced in 12–16 weeks from order confirmation. Custom dimensions or alternative stone selections may require additional lead time depending on slab availability at the quarry. We will advise precise timelines at the inquiry stage.

Yes. Every Terra is delivered and placed by our specialist handling team. At approximately 115 kg, the piece requires careful positioning — we do not courier our work. Delivery is always supervised and we operate worldwide through certified specialist logistics partners who handle stone furniture exclusively.
