A monolithic vessel of commanding height. The Doge Tall is carved from a single marble block — its walls drawn thin enough to let light read the stone, its interior hollowed with precision instruments. Where most vases hold flowers as an afterthought, the Doge makes the stone itself the offering.
The Doge Tall begins as a solid block — mass without purpose — and the work of making it is the slow removal of everything that is not the vessel. What remains is a wall of stone no thicker than necessity demands. Hold a light behind it at dusk and the marble becomes translucent: amber and grey and the faint tracery of veins that ran through the earth for millennia. The hollow is not absence. It is the point.
The name invokes the Doge of Venice — the highest title a republic could bestow. There is something of that civic authority in the vase: the upright stance, the quiet self-possession, the refusal to compete with what surrounds it. Whether it holds a single stem or stands empty, the Doge Tall is the still point of any room it enters.
The Doge Tall is offered in four marble selections. Bianco Carrara's silver-grey veining renders the vessel almost architectural. Calacatta introduces warmth and movement — the walls seem to glow from within. Verde Guatemala deepens the vessel into something ancient and forested, its colour shifting between olive and jade as light moves across it. Nero Marquina makes the Doge nocturnal: a column of pure darkness, the stone's gold veins the only interruption.

The hollowing process begins with a solid marble cylinder and proceeds using a combination of rotary core drilling and hand finishing tools. The walls are brought to their final thickness — between 1.2 and 1.8 cm — through incremental passes, with our craftsmen checking the light transmission of the stone at each stage. No two pieces are identical: the natural variation in marble density means each vessel has its own interior character.
Yes. The interior of the Doge Tall is sealed with a food-safe, invisible mineral sealant that prevents water absorption without altering the raw texture of the stone. For extended fresh flower use, we recommend a glass liner insert — available as an optional accessory — which protects against prolonged moisture contact and makes cleaning easier. The exterior appearance is entirely unaffected.
The Doge Tall is as powerful empty as it is filled. Its proportions — tall, narrowing slightly at the mouth — suit single stems of dried pampas, tall branches, or sculptural dried botanicals particularly well. Many of our clients display it without any arrangement at all, as a stone object in its own right. The vessel was designed with this dual purpose in mind: it is complete before anything is placed inside it.
Every Doge Tall is shipped in a bespoke wooden crate lined with archival foam, designed to protect the vessel during transit. Delivery is handled by our specialist art-handling partners and includes white-glove placement at your location. Due to the wall thickness of the piece, we do not use standard parcel couriers — all logistics are coordinated directly by Tiba Stone to ensure the vessel arrives in perfect condition.
