Marble Vessel

Deau

bespoke marble vase

A vessel in contradiction. Deau is carved from marble — one of the hardest materials in nature — to hold the most perishable: water, stems, bloom. The name speaks of what it carries. The form speaks of what it is.

The Contradiction

Stone Made to Hold

Marble does not suggest itself as a vessel. It is weight, permanence, density. And yet cut into the form of a vase — walls drawn inward, interior hollowed to receive — it becomes something else entirely. A container of quiet authority, holding the transient against all expectation.

The Veining as River

The veining of the stone, selected for each piece, reads as water does through landscape: unhurried, inevitable, tracing the path of least resistance. Against the stillness of dried botanicals or the life of fresh stems, it becomes a conversation between nature in two registers — the geological and the botanical.

Stone & Surface

Deau is offered in four marble selections. Bianco Carrara's cool restraint recedes gracefully into any interior, letting the arrangement within take precedence. Calacatta introduces warmth and drama — the vessel becomes as much presence as the botanicals it holds. Nero Marquina turns the piece nocturnal, the hollowed interior disappearing into depth. Each stone gives Deau a different relationship with what it carries.

Yes. The interior of every Deau is professionally sealed with a stone-grade sealant, making it fully suitable for fresh florals and water. The sealant is invisible and does not alter the stone's natural appearance or finish. We recommend periodic re-sealing every 12–18 months depending on frequency of use, and include a care guide with every piece.

After use with water or florals, wipe the interior with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners — these can dull the polished interior surface over time. For the exterior, a dry microfibre cloth is sufficient for routine care. We provide a full care guide with every piece detailing seasonal maintenance recommendations.

Yes. Deau is available in custom dimensions on request. The proportional relationship between height, diameter, and wall thickness is important to both structural integrity and visual balance, and we will advise on achievable variations during the inquiry process. Bespoke commissions are our most common request.

Yes. The standard configuration is a polished interior — smooth enough for thorough cleaning — paired with a honed exterior, giving the outer surface a softer, more matte quality. Alternative combinations are available on request: full polish, full hone, or a contrasted specification. Many clients choose to match the Deau's exterior finish to adjacent stone surfaces in their interior.
