Icaro

bespoke marble side table

Stone reaching for lightness. The Icaro carries its marble top on legs carved so slender they seem to resist the weight above them — a deliberate contradiction between material and form. Where stone is heavy, Icaro insists on the air beneath.

The Contradiction

Weight Carried on Air

The Icaro is not trying to look like stone. It is stone, shaped to deny what stone is supposed to be. Each leg is drawn down from a single block, tapered to a dimension that should not hold — yet does. The mass sits above, impossibly, and the tension between what you see and what you know is the piece's entire language.

A Surface to Gather

The top is left deliberately generous — wide enough to hold a book, a glass, a candle — its surface polished to a depth that returns the room in miniature. The veining of the stone, uninterrupted across the full span, becomes a quiet landscape to read at close range.

Stone & Form

The Icaro is offered in four marble selections. Bianco Carrara's cool grey veining emphasises the sculptural thinness of the legs. Calacatta brings warmth and drama. Nero Marquina turns the piece nocturnal — the legs disappear into shadow, leaving only the top to read. Each stone transforms the contradiction differently.

You have questions? Contact us

Yes. The Icaro is a monolithic piece — top and legs are hewn from a single block of marble, with no joints, adhesives, or hidden armature. The structural integrity comes entirely from the stone itself and the precision of the carving. This is what makes each piece genuinely unique: the block dictates the character.

More robust than they appear. Marble's compressive strength is exceptional — it is the tensile forces (lateral impact) that require care. The Icaro is designed for stable, considered placement. We recommend placement away from high-traffic paths. Our craftsmen test each piece to a load exceeding its practical use case before it leaves the atelier.

Within limits. The proportional relationship between top and leg dimensions is carefully balanced — significant deviations affect both the structural integrity and the visual harmony of the piece. We are happy to discuss bespoke commissions during the inquiry process and will advise on what is achievable in each stone.

Every Icaro is transported in a custom-made crate by our specialist handling partners. Delivery includes white-glove placement and final inspection at your location. Given the monolithic nature of the piece, we do not ship via standard courier — all logistics are managed directly by Tiba Stone.
