Morphe

composed marble object

From the Greek for form — the thing before it has a name. Morphe is a composed marble object: two pieces of stone, met and fixed in permanent relationship.

The Joint

Where Stone
Meets Stone

The joint between the two pieces of Morphe is its defining moment. Two precision-cut faces are brought together dry — no adhesive, no filler — and fixed in permanent contact. The line between them becomes the object's most considered detail.

Form & Intention

Form Before
Function

Morphe makes no pretence of utility. It exists to be looked at, to occupy a surface, to pose a compositional question. The two stones can be selected from the same block for continuity, or from contrasting blocks for dialogue.

Stone & Composition

Shown here in Rosso Levanto. Morphe can be produced in a single stone — where the joint becomes an almost invisible precision — or in two contrasting stones, where the joint becomes a visible boundary between two characters. Both approaches are valid; both are available.

Two stones. One object. The relationship between them is the work — a composition that exists only because someone chose to place them together, and someone chose to make that placement permanent.

Yes. When ordered in a single stone, we cut both pieces from the same slab sequentially, ensuring the veining flows continuously from one piece to the other. The joint becomes almost invisible — a precision line through a single composition.

No. The two pieces are dry-joined — the faces are precision-cut to tolerances of less than 0.1mm and fixed by a hidden internal pin. There is no adhesive, no filler, and no visible fixing at the joint. The contact between the faces is complete.

No. Morphe is a sculptural object. It is designed to occupy a surface and reward sustained attention. It has no tray, shelf, or storage function — it is, entirely, a composed form.

Swatches indicate the character of the stone — its colour, tone, and veining density — but each block of stone is unique. The piece you receive will share the qualities of the selected stone while being entirely its own.
